Bain Marie

An electric bain-marie, also known as a water bath or double boiler, is a piece of kitchen equipment used for gentle and consistent heating of food items. It consists of a container (usually made of stainless steel) filled with water, which is heated by an electric element underneath. Food items are placed in smaller containers or pans, which are then submerged in the hot water bath for heating or cooking.
